A plastics molding pioneer, who has served his industry in an extraordinary manner.
Since 1946, when he became a member of the SPE, Palmer served in virtually every capacity at both the section and national levels, including national treasurer, and three ANTEC committees. His efforts on behalf of the SPE earned him the President's Cup in 1960, and he was named a Distinguished Member in 1968. He was the general chairman of the ANTEC in 1968.
A member of the Plastics Pioneers Association since 1965, he served in all offices and was appointed managing director in 1983. He has continuously dedicated himself to the growth of this unique organization, in which he spearheaded the adoption of the Plastics Education Fund, which is devoted to granting scholarships to students interested in plastics processing and production.
Among his many other volunteer activities are The Plastics Education Commission Advisory Board for Vocational and Extension of Education for the New York City Public School System, Plastics Molders Guild, and the National Plastics Center and Museum. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Museum.
He is currently chairman of R.C. Molding, Inc. of Farmingdale, NY, and is a member of SPI. He is on the Board of the Plastics Academy.
He was born in Philadelphia and studied mechanical engineering at Syracuse University and attended Columbia University for extension courses in business.
He resides in Palm Springs, CA with his wife Ruth. They have three sons: G. Palmer, Jr., William A., and Charles J. They also have six grandchildren. |
